The black fin tunas have showed up on all offshore humps on Islamorada. Sizes ranging between 5-25 pounds. Go get your soy sauce and wasabi ready. The mahi bite was a little slower yesterday with most of the fish being caught in depths of 750-1250 outside the 409 hump. Scattered thunderstorms, seas 1-3 ft. Awesome fishing conditions. No weed = no fish, so look for your seaweed is the key. Come visit Play Baby Charters in the beautiful Florida Keys at Whale Harbor Marina.
This is How We Played Offshore on Sunday August 20th. Outside of a few storms through out the day, mahi-mahi fishing in Islamorada, Fl. was good again. The big thing NOT to do, go out deep!!! The body of fish, at least for us, were from 450-550ft on the shallower current edge. The weed was lined up good and the birds were working it. There was a mix of shakers, schoolies, & gaffers! If you stuck it out you were sure to have a good catch. Seas were 1-3 feet and the current is still smoking. So remember to keep the shallower weeds honest because that's where the bigger fish have been for the past 3-4 days.
Beautiful weather today offshore in Islamorada, Fl. We are finally seeing some bigger mahi-mahi show up. Boated a 45lb bull & three 20lb cows. Finding the fish anywhere between 8-15 miles offshore just look for seaweed, rips, & birds. Book your trip with Play Baby Charters and we will put you on the fish. Hope to see you soon down in the beautiful Florida Keys!
